Suspected diagnosis

I have recently been put on the implant combined with the mirena coil as one of my last contraceptive options and am wanting to know if anyone has had similar experience?

Finding myself not being taken seriously by my gynaecologists due to me being a younger age but and am really put off going and asking for help from them. Been put on lots of medication for the sake of it rather than trying to tackle the problem and get a diagnosis. Brings me a lot of stress and worry that potentially this might not be endometriosis and could be something else that hasn’t been explored.

so you have both the implant and coil? I don’t why you are on two different contraceptives. Normally it’s just one. Have you seen a gynaecologist?

But I get you! I am 25 and feel I’m not taken seriously because I don’t have children/not in an active relationship. I’ve been having pain and period issues since 17 and told it was something I’d “grow out of” but still suffering.

I’ve been with gynaecology since 2018/2019 and it’s always been oh we think you’ve probably got endo but won’t push for the diagnosis regardless of me bringing up the surgery each time.

I have been put on mirena and the implant because mirena and pill weren’t working I was on depot and pill before that aswell.

Hi👋 you’re fully within your rights to ask for a proper gynae referral to get to the bottom of your issue. I was initially denied referral and was told “ if it was endometriosis we would simply prescribe these things. You don’t need a gynae referral” that was in the spring. Now I have a complex endometriosis diagnosis that apparently needs complex surgery. They can’t determine your situation by guesswork although that often seems to be their first port of call. If you’re not a medical professional you’re allowed to ask the question and you’re allowed to be wrong but at least you’ll have an answer by the end of it. Have you had any scans ? They seem to be the holy grail. I was being ignored until I had a scan and then everything went into overdrive. I definitely sympathise with you feeling like you’re out of options, keep pushing! And good luck!

I’ve been with gynaecology since 2018/19 seen two gynaecologists and believe that I’m suspected but my symptoms will ease or I’ll grow out of it. Been on numerous contraceptives and nothing is working well.

Got an ultrasound last year that indicated that I had more follicles than usual on my ovaries possibly indicating PCOS aswell but bloods didn’t show anything concerning to them so they’ve disregarded and haven’t looked into things further but also haven’t looked into my other symptoms despite them getting worse. Have brought up surgery on numerous occasions but it’s always the answer of oh next time or you know there’s risks etc

Keep pushing for a second opinion. Change GPs if you have to.

You are wayyyy too young to be experiencing this and to be in the dark. Doesn't sound right to have an implant AND the coil.

If you're not getting much from your current GP, go to a family planning centre. Keep going until someone sits up and pays attention.

You also want to know exactly what the deal is swiftly, so that you can educate yourself, tackle it head-on and continue with your fabulous life - especially if you plan to have children.

I had problems with painful bleeding all through my life. In my twenties, I had a male GP who referred me to a "Pain Clinic", where I was just fobbed off with different cocktails of drugs. Each appointment was literally: "Oh. That didn't work? 🤔 Okay, let's try this ... ... ..." 😖 every few weeks. I just walked away in the end.

It took many more years, heavier and more painful periods, more drugs and a younger female GP who sat up and started asking questions and making proper referrals.

I had always been anaemic and was just given iron tablets but it got the point where that was no longer enough and I needed to have a blood transfusion.

At some point along this perilous journey, I had a laparoscopy and was diagnosed with endometriosis fitted with the Mirena coil, which completely changed my life.

I think I was about 35 by now and was just sooo thankful that I never had a period again!

So costa45 , PLEASE push and push, don't give up.

I'm here for you if you need some encouragement. 😘
