Hi everyone! I feel under such pressure from my doctors and environment to be 'right' about my suspected endometriosis. My GP seems to be the only one who supports me.
The team at the hospital (gynaecologist, pelvic floor fysio, sexuologist) are of opinion that I 'just' have tight pelvic floor muscles. Has anyone had this diagnosis? That it turned out to be 'just' that instead of endo?
The symptoms of tight pelvic floor muscles all overlap with endometriosis though? From the net:
- Pain that intensifies with certain movements or that is relieved by repositioning the body
- Pain during sexual intercourse
- Difficulty urinating
- Frequent or painful urination
- Urinary incontinence
- Difficulty passing stool
- Bloating and constipation
- Lower back pain
Couldn't tight pelvic floor muscles be a symptom of endometriosis in some cases?! Oi, so confusing.
If you relate to any of this or know more, I'd love to hear it 💛

Hi, the two conditions are not mutually exclusive and pain from endometriosis will affect the muscle tension in the pelvic floor. I have both, endometriosis and endometrioma confirmed on laparoscopy, tightness in pelvic floor from training in ballet/pilates and working as a manual therapist.
I have a retroflexed uterus due to endometriosis which makes PAP screening more uncomfortable and generally find that when the endometriosis flares I can't engage my abdominal wall and pelvic floor to full strength due to bloating. I have found repositioning to lie on my tummy has always helped with pain levels.
I am currently trialling a lactose free diet which is helping with the bowel bloating and my muscle contrations seem to be improved when I'm not as swollen.
You don't mention how old you are or whether your pelvic floor has ever been stretched/scarred with childbirth so you may have other factors which may be contributing to tightness.
i have tight pelvic floor & adenomyosis. Not sure if it's related but when my adenomyosis pain is bad,so is my bladder symptoms. For me they both kick off together
As the rest. Whilst a lot of women suffer from pelvic issues there is more tissue weakness of the pelvic core with endo and adenomyosis. Why the medics are offering an either or option to you is irksome and possibly erroneous.
