Hi everyone, I’m new here but so happy to have stumbled upon this community. Today I saw a colo rectal surgeon due to some blood found in my stool. He said he was pretty annoyed I’d been sent to him if he was being honest, especially given that it was probably ‘just endometriosis’ and that’s what I get from living with a chronic illness. Feeling really low after what he said, and haven’t been offered any further treatment options, my biggest issue at the moment is endo bloating which pretty much ruins my work and social life. If anyone has any tips or tricks for bloat please let me know, if not thanks for letting me just whinge!

Sorry that the colo rectal surgeon was rude, it seems he lacks basic manners. He could have explained to you that GPs often refer endo patients to him when he can't help them and they should be referred to a gynecologist.
Go back to the referring doctor and asked to be referred to gynecology.
make sure you ask to be referred to an endo specialist!!!! Good luck sorry they were not helpful but they need you to undergo investigations before they can help you so hopefully they will be kinder once you have the backing of an endo specialist xx
I’ve got an endo surgeon but I’m not sure he is a specialist.. is there any way to find out?
this is the link to the accredited endometriosis centres and if you put in your area it will come up with the endo specialist, surgeon, pain management specialists that are all covered.
Hope this helps xx let me know how you get on if the link works
Hi,
I’m so sorry that you’ve experienced this. I’m new to having the diagnosis and honestly I can share your experience. I’m not sure why doctors dismiss symptoms because ‘it’s just endometriosis’ … to be honest I’m still dealing with doctors lacking empathy about the condition so I can only say that we shouldn’t give up!! I would say talking to your referring doctor about what happened would be the first step as they should help with bloating etc. and hopefully reassure you. They can maybe even get back in touch with the colorectal surgeon but of course that will be up to them. Don’t give up! All the best 🙂
The fact our doctors are making us feel 'stupid' or worthless' with this condition is so sad! It knocks my confidence so much!! Sorry this happened to you x
hi. Sorry this has happened. I’m waiting to see an gynaecologist and also the colon rectal team because I also have blood when I have a bowel movement. I do have a fissure but when I’m on my period the bleeding is definitely worse. I also get this awful shooting/ stabbing rectal pain when I’m on my period. It’s good their sending you for a colonoscopy to see what’s going on. When do you have this?
