Gp said gyne will only give me mirena

Hi everyone.My gp told me now i have endo.The only thing that has showed up on a.scan is pelvic congestion syndrome.He said this isnt causing the pain.Now he said i have endo.I was asked if i still wanted a gyne appointment as all they will do for me is give me the mirena.Is this true.I was made to feel that going to gyne is a waste of time.

I think it is a bit unconsidered for your GP to claim that PCS isn't causing you pain as I'm not sure how they can know. It can cause many symptoms including pelvic pain that worsens as the day goes on, particularly if much time is spent standing, pelvic pain that worsens during menstruation, after sex, or after certain physical activities. These can also be present with endo so there can be quite a cross-over of symptoms.

But if they are treating you as having suspected endo then note that a basic pelvic scan, especially ultrasound, will only look for basic abnormalities and will miss endo; it needs an expert sonographer to detect deep endo. Your symptoms are an important guide as is a thorough clinical exam by a specialist.

It is so worrying that GPs are still doing this. The guidelines are clear that in the case of a negative scan you should be referred to a gynaecologist with a special interest in endo and that your preference is what matters - either treat medically without a diagnosis or opt for a diagnostic lap.

In you previous post you have described left sided sciatica that is typical of deep endo and only giving you the option of the mirena seriously risks deep endo progressing if you do have it.

Thank you Lindle.I am very confused.When the scan in 2020 showed pelvic congestion.I was. just rang and told i had it nothing else.So looked it up and I read the symptoms and everything correlated.i felt it was like a eurika moment.This is what was wrong with me ! especially the symptoms and it starting after given birth A while later i rang my gp as symptoms were terrible.I didnt get to talk about all my.symptoms on the telephone appointment i just mentiomed the worse ones...as she just said she would refer me to gyne.. I found out a year later that she forgot to send in the referral..Then i had my first face to face appointment 3 weeks ago.I mentioned pelvic congestion.syndrome went on to talk of symptoms and was interuupted doing that as my gp said pelvic congestion.syndrome is a contraversial disgnosis and just dismissed it.Then i was rang and told i had endo.But i have only had 1 telephone appointment whichnwasnt in depth and my first face to face 2 weeks ago.As i was interuppted in that appointment havent actually had anyone listen to all my symptoms ever.So am very confused and unsure of everything
