Belly button wound healing time post Laproscopy. What's everyone's experience with this? Thanks in advance x
It seems to be taking a while for my bell... - Endometriosis UK
It seems to be taking a while for my belly button incision to heal properly. Lap was on 24th May. Other wounds are now healed over
Hi,
My belly button wound was definitely the last to heal. Took at least a 6-7 weeks and they ended up removing the stitches, which helped and also made it less sore.
Good luck xx
Belly button was last to heal and also had stitches removed, but I’d also had an infection in that one.
I believe I had dissolvable stitches and glue on top. The glue came off somewhere between 2-3 weeks after Lap. I had a salt bath last night to give it a really good clean, let it dry before putting strips across to try to pull the wound together a bit to aid healing. Before trying this it's just scabbed over, then scab falls off, it gets a bit weepy (clear, not smelly) and re scabs over however the wound looks 'too wide' to heal properly. It is reassuring to know it can take 6-7 weeks!
I had my lap on 27th May so comparable time scale. All stitches have fallen out & my incisions are healing well - v small pink ‘x’s on either side. The belly button is also v neat although is a different shape to before. It is still ever so slightly tender if touched & so I guess still healing. I’m also not wearing tight jeans or anything that might irritate it yet. Trying to give it space & time.
Update: my belly button wound finally closed up fully around 29th August 2022. So took around 13 weeks! Thankfully, no infection in that time! Consultant said sometimes this can happen if some glue still remains somewhere. Otherwise everything else post Lap has been fantastic and symptoms of Endo are more manageable. Quality of life has much improved
