Hi new to the forum, I’m 24 years old and started taking periods at age 9 since then it was very heavy lasted at least the full week and would buckle me in two with the pain, getting older only seemed to get worse taking periods for at least 3 weeks at a time heavy as could be changing pads every 5 minutes or so and constantly bleeding through everything where I was then referred to hospital for scans had ultrasound etc where the doctor told my mum ‘ she’s only saying this to get off school’ I then dealt with this until I was about 19/20 when I was in a relationship where I couldn’t even have sex with my partner due to the fact it was that sore everytime and everytime we tried I would have to put on a pad and change it after 5 minutes with the bleeding I got I then fell pregnant and had a miscarriage at the age of 18. Eventually went back to the the doctors after my mother having cervical cancer problems all her life and was told ‘they think it’s endometriosis well it’s pointing to that 95%’ but still refused a smear test or in-depth testing, I was given an ultrasound and told to take buscopan and paracetamol&ibuprofen and given no help since then with my issues. I’m majorly concerned especially at this age thinking about my future

Really sorry to hear you’re going through this :( and I can imagine it must be worrying but I really hope this forum helps you.

I know it’s easier said than done, but keep pushing your GP. You know your body better than anyone does and especially with your symptoms and family history, they will have to listen eventually. Explain that you want to be referred to a gynaecologist for a second opinion. If you feel like you’re not getting anywhere with your gp, ask to see another doctor in the surgery.

I actually didn’t go to my gp as everything flared up during the lockdown. I ended up in A&E 3 or 4 times and I know that after my third time, that’s when they started to take things more seriously.

I don’t know if it’s an option, but would you be able to have a private consultation? Even if you don’t follow through with treatment privately, sometimes just getting a consultation done as soon as possible can really give you peace of mind and a chance to be listened to.

All the best and really hope things get better x
