Any LGBTQ+ people had any awful experienes at the Doctor's due to their sexuality or how they present themselves as if to say that we can't have or aren't allowed to have Endometriosis?

Hi. Sounds like the practice you’re seen at need some training. Sorry you had that experience.

It’s not unusual I’m afraid. In my experience if you’re not “straight/femme” passing there’s usually an odd reaction or funny look in consultations. Even if it’s when you’re asked if you could be pregnant and the answer you give is no, because you’re LGBTQ+.

It shouldn’t be the case you’re treated differently. Consider complaining to the practice manager.

GMC have guidance on their website and training too for GPs around inclusive care.

Personally I’ve never had a bad experience due to being lesbian. When asked if I was sexually active, I responded that I’m gay and he said “same question”. It didn’t make any difference and how he said it made me feel very included. I think it’s down to the individual doctor and if they get it wrong then they need re training.
