Laparoscopy shoulder pain

I had my laparoscopy on Friday and the shoulder pain is the worst bit! I’m still suffering with it now, almost 5 days on. The only thing that’s given me any form of relief is hot water bottles, but even then the pain doesn’t completely go away. I’ve found it gets worse after eating. I’m making sure I move around as much as possible, I’m drinking loads of peppermint and ginger tea and loads of water too but nothing is working.

Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks!

I had bad gas pain as well and I found it relieved itself Day 6 when I had a good bowel movement. I did however also sleep elevated for the last two nights and not lie down flat at all. Walking around and staying elevated helps immensely.

Echo what Dairqueen said it! You're nearly through it and sounds like you are doing all the right things. I sympathise though as it is very uncomfortable and I don't think we are made aware of how long it would last! I had a few lingering pains from gas around day 6 and 7 but am now day 12 post op and it's no longer an issue. Hope you recover well x
