Decapeptyl! Can you still get flair up and bloating while on injection 💉

Hello, I've recently been put on decapeptyl injections. I just had my 4th monthly one on Tuesday and today stomach really bloated and feel like I'm away to get a period!! Is this normal as been feeling OK apart from joint pain. Also had mri and results came back no deep endometriosis but letter says its unlikely to pick up superficial endometriosis. Can you still get flairs on the injections.

Hi Swimmer75, I've been on decapeptyl monthly injections for over a year now, I can only tell u what happens for me as we are all different, I did get spotting early on and sometimes I do get bloating and some pain (finding it harder to manage recently) the bloating comes and goes normally doesn't last long, I find my legs and hips ache too, are u taking HRT? And u should be taking vitamin D, omega fish oil and calcium while on the injection, I hope ur bloating doesn't last too long, are u waiting for surgery? X

Hi Pureunicorn,

Thank you for your response. When I finally got seen at gynaecology the consultant said after hearing my symptoms that she thinks I need a hysterectomy. She said that these injections would let her know she is treating me right. She did an internal and said she could feel endometriosis. My doctor wouldn't put to gynaecology I'd been asking for years I've had the pill and the marina coil but they never helped. Also had 3 colonoscopies to be told I had its. I had my 3rd colonoscopy last September because my period was coming through with my bowel movements and I was getting prolapse from the back. I have to say that the injection has cakmed down the prolapse and I'm no longer getting a period but I do.get a wee but of spotting when my period would be due but that's from the back. I'm a bit concerned because the mri has come back clear but my consultant has said mri is unlikely to pick up superficial endometriosis. It is the best I've felt in a long time with the injections but I don't really want to be on them long term she said 3 - 6 months. My bloating isn't as bad as it unused to be. On Friday I had a bad flare and thought it was maybe from my injection on Tuesday. I haven't took the hrt trying to go without it. I should be getting a review shortly to find out what next she did give me a leaflet about a diagnostic laporoscopy so I'm hoping I get that first but I'm going to see if I can get a hysterectomy as I can't go back to pain and bloating and bleeding with the bowel again... xx

Sounds like uve had a crap time! Hopefully u will hear something soon, I'm waiting for a hysterectomy but due to covid it's taken longer then they said! But I'm hoping it will happen soon 🤞 I must say that if it wasnt for these injections I dont know what I would have done as the pain and bleeding was horrendous. I hope it all works out for u and hopefully u will message saying u have a date soon 🤞xx

Hi AllthatGlitters

I thought the injection would stop the bloating, although it's no where like it was but Friday was bad and felt like my period was coming. Its took about 14 years for my doctor to refer me. The best part of my appointment with gynaecology was when I said to her I have pictures of how bloated I get and of when I get my period through with my bowel and she said I don't need to see them I believe you!! Was the best feeling as my doctor just kept dismissing my pain and said that what haooen as you get older your periods gets heavier and more painful!!! I could hardly function with the.pain!! Oh to be a man!

I know I would love to be a man, maybe in the next life 🤣so pleased you have been taken seriously. It’s awful when we are ill and have to fight to be heard. I have been lucky as have a very good GP but always seem to be on the consultants case as to when they will be seeing me next, fed you listening to my own voice 🤣 the bloating is awful isn’t it, I take water retention tablets and it makes a bit of a difference. Do you find your body swells up, legs and hands etc? Xx
