Has anyone here got endo and also a severe needle phobia? I’m having my first lap on 1st October and I’m terrified I won’t even be able to make it through the pre-op blood tests, especially as my husband isn’t able to come with me at the moment. Any tips, advice or words of wisdom would be most welcome!

Have you used emla cream before having an injection before? I’m thinking if you numb the area, you might feel less anxious at the time of the injection?
I am petrified of everything medical and I somehow made it through my lap back in May. I was in such a mess though, they let my husband come in. They had said no, but on the day they changed their minds seeing how distressed I was.
For putting me under they used gas first so they could put the cannula in when I was already asleep - I highly recommend that.
Hi poor you stay calm my niece was the same and I think you have grounds to have your husband with you so ask you can both take a lateral flow test before you attend the hospital these are free at your local chemist. Also ask for some numbing cream pre needle best of luck try stay calm maybe listen so soothing music whilst your there. Xx
Definitely contact them as soon as you get your pre-op appointment or even before. If you have someone to take you home afterwards, they could perhaps give you a mild sedative before taking bloods. They might be able to offer more suggestions, you can’t be the only person with this. If having someone with you would be enough to help you, I would think that would be allowed.
The blood test was very traumatic. Two nurses tried and eventually refused to do it as I was in such a state and eventually the doctor got my husband in from the car! But I did it! Lap was absolutely fine - they put me out with gas so I didn’t even see a needle. Phew! The anaesthetist made me promise to try CBT so I’m trying to find someone locally as I need another op.
Thank you everyone so much for your advice hope you’re all well!
