Can anyone recommend a diet plan for endo/pmdd/menopausal symptoms?
I was going to join slimming world but not sure if this is the best diet for my gynae issues. I’ve just started on medical menopause for endo and pmdd. Thank you.

Have you looked at the FOODMAP diet? From what I know it's more about eliminating certain food groups as opposed to losing weight, slimming world would be geared at losing weight so that's two different goals. You'll need monitoring if you do the FOODMAP one because it's it's elimination diet so you need to be checked over to make sure you're not unwell from it. I've gone for a more relaxed approach for now since I don't have a dietician, I'm doing no alcohol, no wheat, no dairy (or lacto free if i have to) and no red meat. Its helped a little but not drastic. Xxx
Yes try fod map personally for me not a lot made a difference but I have cut out caffine if I have alcohol it's a glass or 2 of red wine as a treat on a weekend but try to avoid. Otherwise I have peppermint tea, fresh ginger, beetroot and raddish if I have a salad, raw carrot sticks are meant to be good. Flaxseeds are meant to be good however I find that they aggravate my bowels everyone is different though
I believe an anti-inflammatory diet is best. e.g., Green leaf salads with feta cheese, balsamic vinegar, Olive oil, Bricolli, oily fish, Walnuts, reduced red meats and eliminate processed foods. Also check the Web for feeding your gut biome which so much current research shows to be critical to health. Take a look flip.it/NnaKmSKind Regards Kevin
Many thanks for all the replies! I willlook into these as I want to try and help myself as much as possible 😊
Hi. Hope you are doing ok. I followed the endo diet, to the letter for about 8 weeks, at the time I was really bad and it did help much to my surprise 😀, I then tried one thing to see what I was ok with, so for me milk etc is fine, one or two coffees is ok, bread I have to be very careful with and pasta I just can’t have so over time I figured out what I can cope with, on a recent holiday I had a flare up and still haven’t figured out what caused it 🙈. I was really sceptical about trying diet but my my husband worked with someone who suggested it and it has really helped, since my surgery I have had very few flare ups. Xx
Hi, i follow a low carb diet. Im essence is no wheat, sugar or processed food. A lot of eggs, meats (organic) nuts, salads, feta cheese, and veggies ( the non starchy ones) has done wonders for me as keep the iron levels up and nutritional. Thankfully for me this works but as everyone says try and test what works for you. Good luck
Thank you for your replies. I am about four stone overweight so also need to lose weight (hoping it won’t be too hard being in the induced menopause situation). I’ve signed up to slimming world but I amgoing to tweak it. I have gone dairy and wheat free before and my bloating did reduce dramatically so I’m going to start off dairy free but have alternatives with calcium as this is important with my concerns about bones etc due to the drop in estrogen. I’m only going to have limited wholemeal bread and pasta and plenty of oily fish along with masses of fruit and veg. I decided in needed a plan to follow as I struggle to work things out for myself and maintain them easily. Today is my first day. It’s not just about losing the weight anymore it’s about my health and that is really motivating. Thank you everyone.
Good luck with your new food plan. As others have said a more anti-inflammatory diet can help. I found that cutting out wheat, sugar, processed food and alcohol made a big difference to my symptoms along with adding in lots of anti-inflammatory fruits and vegetables which can also help with weight loss.
Hey! I just met with a dietisian and she also says the low fodmap is the way to go. I was very surprised when i saw the food list. A lot of things you think are healthy actually have fodmaps in it. Check the monash website they have a list and they also have a good app. My dietisian said im allowed to have spelt bread. I cannot have onion or garlic or most mushrooms. Only a few fruits are ok and same for vegetables you need to pick the right ones. Some random stuff like cammomile and honey are bad too. So definately check the list. Hope this helps 👍
Hello Given your medical history, I highly recommend Dian Shepperson Mills. She's a nutritionist which specialises in endometriosis. She has a book out - Endometriosis: A Key to Healing And Fertility Through Nutrition. Buy it! It's been invaluable to me. She also consults and you can make an appointment with her if you wish.Best of luck x
