Bit of a long shot but anyone awaiting surgery from Newcastle R.I.V or been waiting a while and has a date through for surgery, I'm trying to get an idea of how much of a wait there is and how far behind they are with surgery. Also does anyone know if the 42 wk from being referred to treatment from NHS still stands due to covid.

Hi, I was referred to a gynaecologist by my GP in October 2020. I then got an appointment with the gynaecologist 5 months later...in March. My gynaecologist appointment was in the RVI outpatients department. He put me on a list for the diagnostic lap surgery and couldn’t give me a date. I just phoned the gynaecologist surgery officers and they told me that for surgery I’m now looking next year due to the back log of covid. They’ve only just started doing gynaecology related surgeries now since the beginning of the first covid lockdown.. so you can imagine how long the back log is.

If you call this number 0191 282 5031 it will take you through to the gynaecologist department at RVI and there’s an option for surgery officers. You can give your details and speak to someone. They will then tell you roughly when your date for surgery is.

Hope this helps

Sorry for late reply I contacted RVI and my referral for bowel department had been missed so since seeing dr Murdoch in January 21 I was forgot about but since this I was rushed for 2 wk diagnosis of my bowel and pelvis due to symptoms (to clear up it's not cancer basically) I have my ct scan with contrast and colonoscopy on friday I'm worried sick tbh as I've had a continuous pain for over a year in 1 area of my colon along with weight loss and fatigue but I'm hoping it's just bowel endometriosis rather than the c word. I have been told that I will definitely get treatment this year but no date given as of yet, I think laparoscopy list maybe based on symptoms and urgency as I was referred also sept 2020 but they highly suspect bowel endometriosis I guess we will have to wait and see :/ . Hopefully we both hear of something soon (I did have my preop but that is now outdated so I will need another pre op appointment).

Hope it all goes well for you! My pre op was carried out in April 21. Will probably have to get it done again as well -.-
