Diagnosed during pregnancy, now what?

Iv just been diagnosed after a suspected tumour in my bowel which turned out to be endo, as I'm pregnant nothing can be done. I haven't had the standard camera test and apparently don't rhink they need to as the tissue will go away on its own. Is this even possible?

Hi Cornflake, I'd suggest asking for a second opinion. For some women, endo can decrease, some stay the same, and some progress or get worse. It would be wonderful if you are one of the ones for whom it decreases. But, as far as I understand, there is no reason to assume it will just go away.

It is worth asking a GP and gynaecologist with a specialism in endometriosis how to manage this. I would follow up on this rather than assuming the case is closed.

Sadly I'm with with head of gynecology at my hospital, will see what he says Monday.

Normally when they do the camera teat do they check all organs?

Hi Cornflake, with a diagnostic laparoscopy for endometriosis, yes, they should look around in the abdominal cavity and note where they see endometriosis - looking on all the organs.

Thanks, that's my biggest concern that I don't know the scale of it. Fingers crossed for Monday

Hiya, he may be the head of gynaecology, but he may not specialise in endometriosis. Make sure to check this. Because of the added complication of pregnancy, you might need a second opinion.
