Hi everyone. I am looking for some help on what I need to push for from my doctors. I was actually diagnosed by an osteopath as I went to see someone new for my back issues, turns out it is all linked with endo! I am 24 and this is something very new for me and I am feeling really overwhelmed with it all.
I have been suffering with very heavy and painful periods for as long as I can remember and back pain that has me limping around like I am 90. I have always been push onto different pills from my doctor. I have recently changed doctors after speaking with my osteopath. My new doctor has confirmed she thinks it is endometriosis. I have been put on another new pill. I have been bleeding over this pill and am trying to get a doctors appointment. I just don't really know the first place to start with this all.
Do I need to be referred and does anyone recommend anything that I should be thinking about. I have been bleeding over this pill for 12 days now. When I think I have stopped, whoosh another load of blood falls out of me (I am sure you can all relate)
I am just feeling really low and emotional and I just don't know what I need to be doing!
Any help and suggestions would be really appreciated.
P.S. sorry for the long post

Hi Dacshundlover,I'm sending good thoughts your way.
Can I make a suggestion? Can you ask you GP for a referral to a gynaecologist who specialises in endometriosis (BSGE centre)?
If your pill is the mini pill, there is guidance on the endometriosis UK site about managing endo during covid. It says doctors often suggest doubling the mini pill to try to stop period bleeding.nit can also take 3 to 4 months to settle because our bodies take time to adjust.
There are a variety of hormonal treatments available to try. You can find a list of these, also on the Endometriosis UK site. It lists pros and cons of each. If you want to switch, you might talk to your GP to find the best one for you.
That’s great your osteopath has put you on the right route. It is very confusing at first. Your GP should refer you to a gynaecologist as it’s out of their remit really, they’ll give it a try with different things. Unfortunately scans are very limited still as far as endo goes and although they can be pretty sure on symptoms the only way to confirm is a laparoscopy. If you can find a treatment that works for you, big plus.
Have a look at the consultant list on your local hospital and see if they name specialties. You can ask for a referral to a named consultant. If you are looking to have children see if any endo specialists are also good with fertility.
Write down all your symptoms and how they affect you, gets it all a bit clearer in your head as well 🙂
There is lots of support here and as June_Viola has mentioned Endo UK site has great info, also handling consultations with doctors, etc. Seems like you have a good GP now.
