Hi! Ginger - the delicious spice might be really handy as a supplement too.
Here''s a TMI post...
It's a bit over three weeks since diagnostic laparoscopy for me (endometriosis stage IV). I did my research, got some hormonal treatment (Mirena & Cerazette), and then searched the supplement list for something to support health. I bought a few things, then decided not to try them all at once (ha ha) before speaking to a dietician. But I did have some ginger supplements, and it's basically a food (in small amounts - moderation as always). I read great things about it, so was interested to try it.
I first tried it on an empty stomach (not having read the instructions properly) and it was so gingery! Mental note to self - if it says take it with food, that's probably a good idea.
Last night, I tried taking one of the ginger tablets with dinner. Everything was normal before bedtime, for one of the first times since the lap, I slept on my side with very little pain, and in the morning, I felt... cautiously a bit more well. And in a morning trip to the washroom, I finally had the freedom to... Well... Pass gas. It's so uncomfortable when you're feeling sore, bloated, and gassy, and it just sits in your digestive system. I usually take an omeprazole in the morning for acid reflux, but I've felt a little better and so I've forgotten until now at 11am. I'll still take it, but this is promising.
Well, enthused by these micro improvements, I went and read about the benefits of ginger again. It's supposed to be very good for the digestive system... Allowing people to pass gas, reduce menstrual pain, reduce nausea, and other good things. Overall, it's an anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.
I'm feeling really encouraged by this mini experiment, and I'll try taking ginger supplements for a while to see if it really is the ginger that's helping. It's promising.
