Painful shins and feet- Endo?!

Hi all,

This is going to sound a bit daft I think but does anyone suffer with really painful shins and feet/toes through Endometriosis?! I have Endo in my pelvic wall and so suffer a lot with lower back, hip and groin pain but the last couple of months I have had horrendous pain in my shins and feet a couple of times. It comes out of nowhere and is so painful to walk. Very bizarre.

Oh really? I thought I was going mad thinking it was endo causing it. I’ve never experienced pain like it. This time around it’s a lot worse than before. I thought the first time I did it, it was through walking but I haven’t even been doing a lot and it’s come out of nowhere. Thank you so much for the response x

Hi. Are they swallowing as well? My brother had them swallow and very painful, but not all the time. They said is a rheumatological issue and so far have him lots of medication. Hope you get well soon.

No, there’s no swelling at all. Just so painful. My back and top of legs are hurting today also. Xx

Yes yes yes. I had spinal fusion surgery in May 2020 and then a hysterectomy and ovaries out in Nov 2020- my consultant and physio think it’s because I was ‘walking into the pain’ I have got some orthopaedic insoles to correct my gait and the difference is amazing. I got mine from Amazon

Oh really? What do you mean by walking into the pain? I’ll have a look into the insoles. Xxx

I mean the way I walked was the most ‘comfortable’ way I could and not actually good posture. As I had been in pain for so long- I walked with a bit of a limp- now it’s been corrected my body is having to learn to walk the right away and that had caused pain in my shins, calf muscles and my foot. I tried strapping my ankle thinking it was that but it wasn’t- I tried the insoles purely as they were cheap and worth a punt and the pain and my posture as improved dramatically. I’mNot a physio tho so might be worth getting referred to a bit of physio..

Ah I see! That’s great. Yes the consultant I spoke to said that can happen also. I’m waiting to start injections to shut down my system to see if that helps with the pain. Fingers crossed it does xx

It’s crazy how endo affects the body. I didn’t know I had endo- I had a pelvic scan in sept to see if my spinal fusion had failed and they found a 20cm fibroid- I was going to have that removed and my uterus but ended up having everything whipped out as my ovaries looked suspect- turned out to be adhesions and stage 4 endo- thankfully nothing else. I ‘dried out’ for 5 weeks and have been on HRT now since Jan. keeping fingers crossed for you x

Well I have horrible foot pain so bad I can’t walk at times. Figured it was due to endo. Now I think it’s because I’m overweight. Goal is lose weight but if I still have foot pain I will look into this further. Interesting perspective on ‘walking into the pain.’ It’s possible I’ve been doing that. Either way I need to lose weight it sure can’t hurt. But this caught my attention as I’ve had so much pain in my feet. Feels like someone hit my feet with sledgehammers. I wear very supportive shoes but it doesn’t matter. Best of luck to you with the foot pain. I know how hard this is to endure.

You are not alone. I have exactly the same and it gets worse during ovulation. I have tried everything, insoles, physio etc etc you name it.Is been over 2 yrs now since it first kicked in. For me is in both legs on the shins and the side of the legs from the hip all the way down.

Is horrid, especially as I love walking.

Magnesium spray has helped and been doing pilates too which has helped but this is as far as it goes. (Stage 4 endo)

Wishing you all the best.
