I've had 3 different mirenas fitted over 8 years. They have totally stop my periods. My last one hasnt seemed to help my endometriosis much. I'm in pain more often than not. I've gone for it to be removed also TTC but they couldn't get it out. I've been referred for a scan and potential d&c to remove. Has anyone had this and can share their experiences?

Has anyone had about trouble with getting their mirena coil removed? My gp has referred me for a procedure as she can't get it out

Hi yes mine got stuck the strings went missing so I was refered to gyny I don't if thats the same in ur case if so they used what looked like a knitting needle to find my string and then they got it out took about 10 min
Hi, I had the same problem, GP couldn’t remove it and said she couldn’t find it! Referred me for X ray to check it was still there, but in the meantime someone recommended that I go to the Family Planning Clinic and they were able to do it. The strings had been cut too short.
I don’t know if that would be an option at the moment if you find you have to wait for the scan/ procedure.
Hope all goes well for you.
Hi
This is really helpful thank you. I didn't think of a family planning clinic. I may give that a try in the meantime.
Its frustrating as the other two really helped but this one hasn't really helped my pain so I decided to take it out and start thinking of conceiving then my GP has said she cant see the strings, so referred for an ultrasound which is a 10 to 12 week wait then the same for a gyna to take it out. All seems pointless when i know Its in there and seeming I'm waiting 6 months. Did you just call your family planning clinic instead and book in and they got it out fine? Thanks for your help
