I'm just looking for some support and advice really. I'm 27, and started my periods when I was 15 since then Ive had horrendous periods and alot of other symptoms. My mum has endometriosis and she has been concerned I may have it. I finally took the leap to get it investigated, I had my ultrasound today and had to have an internal one aswell. Ive been told that although she couldn't see any cysts I need to get a laparoscopy and I'm scared, I know I need to know as I would like to have kids eventually but I also don't want to know. I'm going to go through with it but just have a lot of mixed emotions right now and was wondering if anyone could help me.

Hello, I really feel for you, I know it's scary but you need to know. Once you do, you can decide what to do. I wasn't diaganosed till I was 25 but really welcomed the diagnosis because I had had years of uncertainty (mostly told by doctors that there was nothing wrong with me). This is such a difficult disease to treat but it will at least give you options for treatment if you do have it which could significantly help you if it is not too bad.
I am on progesterone which cuts down the oestrogen in my system and it has been a godsend, stopping my periods and allowing things to calm down.
Just be aware, that if you do have it and they laser off the cysts, it will return in a few months but, will give you some relief.
Also, be proactive! Read as much about endometriosis as you can, there are books out there.
Information is power! Good luck
