Recently I have noticed a few ongoing symptoms or repeated patterns in my body or period cycle. I found my periods where extremely heavy (having to wear both a tampon and pad) and my cramps have become unbearable keeping me up at night. To me, I felt this is something I’ve always had since I started my period at 14... but, after having intercourse and realising the pain I was feeling during this was not normal (considering I’ve been with my boyfriend for 2 years), I decided to make my mum aware. I’ve always had struggles withe one extreme to the other meaning.. constipation or soft runny stool (tmi I know), as well as really bad bloating, back pains and lower abdomen pain .. both period pain 2-3 weeks before or just random sharp pains lower down. I went to the doctor last night and the doctor made me aware of endometriosis, saying that all the symptoms show it could be this. I have been prescribed medicine, and will take it to help periodnpain and flow. After xmas, they want me to call the doctors to possibly get a scan. I’m 18 and it’s really worried me. Has anyone got any advice on this; what to expect, your experience in the early stages?
Thanks everyone.

Sounds very much like endo I would askYour doctor for a referral too gyno and ask for a laparoscopy that is the only way they can diagnose endo as it doesn’t show up on scans hope this helps x x
I'm sorry you're feeling this way, but please remember, you are not alone!
To begin with (if you haven't already) I would have a look at the Endometriosis UK website: endometriosis-uk.org/inform.... There's loads of information about endometriosis on there, including what sort of questions to ask your GP and how to get a referral to a gynaecologist.
Endometriosis UK also runs several support groups. Although we are not able to run face-to-face meetings at the minute due to COVID, lots of the groups are hosting online events and information sessions. Have a look on the website (endometriosis-uk.org/find-a... for your nearest group. Most of the support groups have facebook pages too, where they advertise their meetings.
If you feel you would like to speak to someone, the Endometriosis UK Helpline (0808 808 2227) is open today from 7 – 9 pm, and you can find the opening times for the rest of the week on the Endometriosis UK website: endometriosis-uk.org/helpline.
