I've had an appointment with my doctor re period issues. She has said that, because I have all the symptoms of endometriosis and we know that the pill manages these symptoms, gynecology may not bother with a laparoscopy and just diagnose me without it. Has anyone else experienced this?
I know from reading that the only way to really definitively diagnose endo is with a laparoscopy so now I'm confused.

I already knew I had endometriosis a few years back after having internal scans & hospital stays they found a cyst on my ovary which they said was an endometioma but endometriosis was never put down on my medical records, when I went through fertility she also didn’t put down endometriosis, but put down suspected even though she was 100% it was and told me the only way to be sure was through surgery, I recently had surgery for fertility reasons, and on my paperwork after being discharged the diagnosis was endometriosis.
Is surgery something you are wanting to push for? Xx
Thanks for your reply. I'm glad you finally managed to get a definitive diagnosis.
I guess I just want to make sure I'm definitely being treated for the right issue. If other potential causes are ruled out then I would be happy (probably not the right word) to accept a endo diagnosis without surgery. But I definitely don't want to be fobbed off without proper investigation which is something I'm worried about.
We want to start trying for a baby next year so naturally I'm concerned that whatever is causing my problems, whether is be endo or something else, may affect that. But I suppose I won't know until we actually start trying. It's just a worry
Yes defiantly. What I’ve found but may be different everywhere else is that my gyne doctors weren’t concerned at all just said nope, shouldn’t cause u much problems with having babies etc, and I just listened as they are professionals, then actually 3 years down the line and we still haven’t fell pregnant, it’s only because of my fertility doctor that we are where we are today, and we know our issues so I’m very lucky.
I would defiantly keep pushing so you can get accurate answers so you know where you stand xx
