Can massage releive endometriosis symptoms?
Yes, I find massage very therapeutic. I don’t know if it relieves my endo symptoms specifically, but I get lots of aches and pains which are relieved. I used to go to a sports massage therapist once a month until covid hit, then I invested in a shiatsu massage seat.
Hi Blue265,
I echo what Moonglo says. I used to go for an hour every month for a sports massage. I loved it and felt it was money well spent, nice to just to something kind for yourself. I also get a lot of pain in my right shoulder and it did help with that, temporarily.
It does help because it separates adhesions
I personally don’t think it helps my Endo pain. I think finding a physio that specializes in Endo was more help for me than massage. I do regular massage (2 a month) but it’s for my fibromyalgia (I have a lot of fascia pain). Soaking in a hot bath of Epsom (2 cups) helps a lot for muscle pain. I’ve heard people using a tens machine to help as well.
I do massage and once lockdown was over and therapies allowed I had a massage as I thought it might help. Although it didn’t make it worse, I’m not sure it helped. I think it’s something you’d have to be very careful on the approach and the therapist fully aware of where adhesions would/could be and what the anatomy in general is doing. I found the reflexology more relaxing.
I don’t know if this helps
