Doctors Receptionist 🤬🤬🤬

My lap was a last Thursday, since Sunday one of my glued wounds has been leaking blood and yellow stuff out of it so I got my partner to cover it with a dressing from the hospital and rang the doctors on Tuesday (closed because of bank hol Monday) Tuesday she told me to go sit at a&e but I was in to much pain to go and sit at a&e!

Then yesterday I ring the doctors and ask for nurses appointment no we don’t have any nurses appointments today, really shitty.

So just rang back I said look I need to be seen today, she was like well I will have to get you a telephone appointment with a doctor she asked why I explained a dressing needs changing she then said well that’s a nurse appointment, so she said she will have to ask the head nurse what to do and ring me back! I’m so stressed!

My wound is literally leaking, my partner changed the dressing again yesterday at about 4 by bedtime at 10 it was leaking out of the dressing!

I don’t understand why doctors receptions think they can talk down to people!! Like is part of the application? Anyone else have issues with there doctors?

This definitely can’t wait wait, yellow is likely infection and needs treatment if confirmed. Give them half hour max and call back. I’d class it as urgent. If you didn’t mention infection add this in. I fully understand how difficult it would be to go to A&E.

Let us know how you go

Yes definitely go to a.n.e if you have no joy at your Dr's surgery., 💛

Hi, so I decided to ring my doctors back at 10 seeing as I rang at half 8, the woman I spoke to was horrible and really funny with me and told me they had no nurses appointments today so I asked what I should do and she told me to go to a&e.

I went and I was in and out in about 20mins! I was very surprised! They looked at my wounds and said they look ok and they look like they r healing well so all good 😊 such a relief!

That’s good, keep a good eye on it though and if it gets painful I’d go back.

I can’t believe they couldn’t fit you in at GP, receptionist can’t make medical decisions. When I whinged the other week, receptionist started calling private info across, another was sitting smirking. Both faces wiped when I said don’t shout personal info out. You could have heard a penny drop and suddenly they got more serious 😂

Apart from wound how is recovery going?

Did you tell them you have just had surgery and are worried about the wound? When I did that my usually hard to get past GP receptionists prioritised a nurses appointment in case of infection. The trigger I think was the mention of the surgery and possibly inflected wound.

Ah no :(

Are the wounds hot and red? Do you have a temp? If so you could be looking at an infection so you can call the NHS 111 number. I've done that before (for something else) but they were very nice and ran through the usual questions, then asked why I can't see my normal doctor (explained waiting times and appointments etc are difficult to book) the 111 lady said she can either book me in directly with my GP surgery as day emergency (usually a GP has some appointments for this, but it needs to be the GP surgery you're registered at, it'll be with any Doctor there), or if it's an emergency but not quite A&E she can book me an appointment at the walk in center (ours is next to A&E) which means not needing to wait hours. The answers to the questions the 111 person asks determines which option they book you in for.

Hope that helps x
