Pregnant on Zoladex?

Can anyone help me?

I have been on Zoladex injections for around a year now and for the past month I have had really bad headaches, feeling dizzy, dizziness and now I am being sick.

I have taken two urine pregnancy tests which both came back negative.

On Friday morning I ended up being rushed to hospital as I was continually throwing up and couldn’t keep anything down

It seemed to me they’re were more bothered about my headaches than explaining that I thought I could be pregnant.

Anyway, I had a dipstick pregnancy test whilst I was in there which again came back negative, I requested a blood pregnancy test as I explained to the doctor that with being on zoladex it may come back false negative, he basically laughed and told me to go home and rest and if it gets any worse to come back.

4 days later I still feel the same and my GP won’t even preform a pregnancy blood test as he said if there is 2 negative urine tests then “you are not pregnant sorry”.

Can anyone please help I am so unsure what I am supposed to do, has anyone had similar experience? I feel like I am going crazy!

I’d go back to whoever suggested Zoladex, maybe you’ve been on it too long. Are you taking HRT as well?

Thank you Moon_maiden, a private consultant suggested Zoladex as I want children before a Hysterectomy. Unfortunately not, I have tried several lots and each one has made me ill, I had my last 10.8mg injection in July so that should last until October then I will be coming off them

It could be coincidence as well and there is a different cause. Is the consultant experienced with endo and fertility? Might be worth a second opinion.

Zoladex and similar seem to be a go to medication at present, it’ll be first choice for many consultants, but won’t suit everyone.

Hope you get sorted soon

Not sure about that, it’s learning from your own screw ups 🤣 hindsight is amazing!

Thank you so much, my consultant is a specialist in both fertility and endo.

I feel a bit lost with it all if I am honest, My GP can’t do anything and A&E advised me to see my specialist- who isn’t seeing patients currently due to Covid.

Thank you for your advice!

Yes. I experience all the pregnancy symptoms by stages until I menstruated on my first injection with Zoladex. Vomiting, sensitive to smell, sleeping, consuming lots of water and slight pelvic cramp like implantation cramps. If I had sex that month, I would have swear o was pregrant.

Thank you so much for your comment Laylat, this has been about a month now and seems to be getting worse. Did you find anything which helped?

I stop using all my multivatims except vitamin D then detox. After my first menstrual period, the symptoms reduced. What I suspected happened to me was that, I was ovulating when I got the injection then release an egg which was mimicking pregnancy. Gush! I had all the pregnancy symptoms, swollen sore breast, vomiting, i could smell the next house cooking, bloating, etc. However, after my menstrual circle (it look like implantation bleeding for 3 days) the pregnancy symptoms reduced. I have not had sex in a year so no way, I could ever be pregnant. I am on my second month, only symptom now is hunger. I eat like x3 and have gain 3kg. Make sure you detox,

Hello laylat, I hope you are well

You have literally hit the nail on the head with your symptoms, they’re exactly what I have been experiencing for the past month with a few additional such as trapped wind and constant headache.

I guess we will just have to see, I doubt I am pregnant and like you say it’s probably just my body playing tricks.

I’ve been on the injections for over a year now and I found it was the second and third injection where the hunger and other massive side affects like bad sleep and hot flushes kicked in. The only thing I have found helpful is rubbing cold water behind my ears to cool me down and peppermint tea is awesome for them bloated days!

Are you on any HRT?

One of the side effects of zoladex is depression, hope you are aware of that so try and be calm. Moreover you have taken the medication 6 months so the side effects might just be playing out on you

Hello, I’ve only just seen this but thank you for your reply, I think you hit the nail on the head with this. For the first year it helped massively now I just feel like it has completely stopped working, I have decided to come off the injection as I can no longer lift weights- due to back pain (came with the injection) and overall making me feel groggy!
