Endometriosis and hypothyroidism

Does anyone have both hypothyroidism and endometriosis? I think the two are connected but my endocrinologist has said they are not. However, I have read online that anyone with endo is more likely to get a thyroid problem.

Hi Luci, I have recently (jan 2020) been diagnosed with endometriosis. For the last 3/4 years roughly I’ve been having to go for regular blood tests as my thyroid levels are on the boundary of having hypothyroidism.. night not help but I heard there is a connection between the 2 aswell 😊

Hi Luci,

i am diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis (which is autoimmune disorder) due to which i have hypothyroidism. And i am recently diagnosed with endometriosis. I have IBS symptoms also. All these inflammatory conditions are connected to our immune system so obvioisly all connected and coexisting. Doctors say thyroidism is not connected because most of them dont dig in to their root cause. Doctors focuse on diseases rather than its causes. But you can try to keep all these in remission by starting an anti inflammatory diet along with medications if you have any then slowly get out of the medication. I am not a proffessionalist but do a lot of studies and its helping me a lot .

Hi Luci, I’m in the same club. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos in March and now taking Levothyroxine. A follow-up scan has just confirmed an endometrioma on my right ovary and I’m waiting for an appointment with a gynae consultant.

I’ve been researching the links between the two but can’t find good sources of definitive evidence - studies are few and far between and patient samples are small. There does seem to be a common connection with oestrogen dominance however. I agree with others’ comments about autoimmunity and reducing the body’s inflammatory response.
