Hi all, I've recently been told I have endometriosis and still trying to come to terms with it all. I just wondered does anyone else get really bad heartburn when they have their period? This is something I've just started to suffer and wonder if it is due to the endometriosis. Thanks

Hi, i can’t say it’s when I have periods as I’m currently going through induced menopause and have the mirena coil so I haven’t had a period for a long time, however I do get really gassy at times. Prior to the menopause on the days I would have endo pain I would also find I was either passing smelly wind or burping, and with the burping came acid reflux. It would be so bad on some days that my throat would be burning. I was prescribed omeprazole and would take one in the morning when I started to have pains and have found that would help.
If it continues and starts to become uncomfortable for you (I would struggle to be at work whilst having bad acid reflux) then I would suggest mentioning it to the docs. My pain started to come back and get really bad last year so I was referred back to gynae but also prescribed painkillers and the omeprazole as I just sat down and talked through all the symptoms I would have, regardless of whether I thought they were endo related or not. The doctor was really good and helpful. I did the same with my gynae appointment and went in with a written list of all the symptoms too.
Hope this is somewhat helpful! x
Hi i had this on Wednesday during a big flare up of pain, heartburn, nausea, nearly passing out, turning white and dizziness at work. I ended up in A&E. I've have a couple of these with heartburn symptoms... its horrible and im sure its all connected to endometriosis.
