If you want the coil by don't want the GP doing it your princely best waiting for your appointment for the referral your already waiting for. It might be that they'll say they do it when the do surgery for example.

I had the coil put in under GA due to the pain I get with internal exams there was no chance of me having it done awake so I spoke to my gp and they referred me to gynaecology, had an initial appointment with them and then booked in for surgery. I was offered it at the time I had my lap but at the time the pill I was on was working alright. But a year on it was discontinued which is why I chose the mirena and why I had a separate op just for it.

Just seems too long to wait I could be waiting 3 month for initial appointment and am ttc after surgery so won’t need it then !had success on Mirena in past before endo ! I might just have the injection it was ok in the past but my hair fell out on it so I stopped it thankyou for your comment just feel like I should do something before surgery maybe what I’m doing is enough just don’t want it to get worse x

My Occupational Health nurse advised that, rather than get the coil fitted by the GP, it would be advisable to make an appointment with your local family planning clinic to fit it, as they are more practised at it.

That’s a good idea I may just ask if there’s anyone more experienced
