Pmdd post laparoscopy and ablation.

Had my first period last week after laparoscopy and ablation and I'm suffering with what I think is pmdd. I never have really suffered with pms pmdd or depression at all. Only extreme tiredness and sore breasts and normal endo pain. But this last two weeks have been hideous. I've been so irritable, extremely low moods and very tearful. Even thought about ending my marriage. I'm only assuming my hormone levels are all over the place since my op. Is this what I have to look forward to all the time now or is it just the ablation that has caused it. Has anybody else suffered in the same way. Feeling confused.

I am so glad I have come across your post. As I feel exactly the same. I feel significant anxiety and can't seem too think rationally. i have never been like this. I've thought of quitting my job, because I feel I've embarrassed myself with the lack of control I've had in terms of feeling tearful and upset. Like you I'm also post laparoscopy recently with endometriosis ablated and endometrioma removed. Whilst the brain fog has lifted since surgery, It seems to be replaced with anxiety symptoms.

I'm sorry I'm not more help, but just wanted to let you know you're not alone x

Thank you for you're reply. I am so glad I'm not alone in this. I still have brain fog and feeling very tired. I removed myself from my home to get some time to myself as my feelings left me so overwhelmed. Although my marriage has some small problems I blew it completely out of prospective. Its weird as I feel I'm different to usual. And when I hear myself speak I get more upset as I cant believe it's me. (If that makes sense). My husband is totally understanding of my change and is willing to help me through it. I just hope it's just a small blip and not something I'm going to suffer with regularly. I hope you feel yourself soon too. x

I can only advise to ride it out... hopefully things will stabilise. I'm sure it's all hormonal stuff and will settle. I get when you say you get upset as i feel very much like you... my current mental state is not my 'normal' self. We need to stay positive and hope it is just a blip. Best bit of advice someone has given me is to be kind to yourself. don't be too hard, we talk so casually about surgery and laparoscopy but it's a big deal, your body has gone through a huge trauma.. I also believe general anaesthetic can have longer side effects on the brain and may contribute to feeling a bit 'wobbley'.
