I've finally been diagnosed with Stage 3/4 endometriosis after pushing for help for months. In 2018, I fell pregnant and they found an 8cm endometrioma during one of the early scans and found adhesions during my c-section. Sadly, my son passed away at 14 hours old so I didn't follow this up until my debrief at the hospital, 2 months after. During this debrief, I was told that they didn't believe I had endometriosis, that the cyst could have been ordinary and the adhesions could have been due to infection. They then discharged me to my GP.
We started trying to conceive again immediately and had no luck, cycle after cycle. I started to get heavier and heavier periods and strange left-sided back pain and was told that I needed to give my hormones time to settle after the pregnancy and stress of grief. Then, in about April this year, I started getting bleeding all month long. I was told that "some women bleed" and it took until June before I was referred. In July I had an ultrasound, I was told in September it might be endometriosis. Now, following an MRI, they have confirmed that I have advanced endometriosis, an endometrioma on each ovary, a swollen right fallopian tube and hydronephrosis (caused by adhesions pulling my left ureter out of place).
I am on the waiting list for laparoscopy (4 months ish long) where as many adhesions as possible will be removed, plus cysts and my right tube. This all sounds pretty grim to me but the surgeon told me yesterday that he thinks we have a good chance of conception post-surgery (though we might need IVF).
Has anyone got a similar experience where they ended up with a family?
