Ultrasound Vs mri how accurate

I seen a gynaecologist and she did a ultrasound and said left ovary looks stuck, right ovary close to pouch of Douglas and suspected adenomyosis. So I then paid privately for a MRI and everything showed up fine. So a bit confused which would be right.

The older MRI machines won't show up endo but the modern ones are better at showing it than ultrasounds. It was 2015 that I had my MRI and I had to go to a different hospital because they'd just got a new machine, the one a couple of years older at my local hospital wouldn't have detected it.

Did the gynae say you had endo, did they give any explanation as to what was making things stick? Why did you go for a private MRI rather than getting your gynae to refer you? (I'm just wondering if they refused)

I had a laparoscopy 7 yrs ago and had a severe case of endometriosis. So based off what she could see she said she'll do another laparoscopy. The reason I then went and paid for a MRI as I was worried it my be something bad like cancer or something, but was surprised they said everything looks all good. I don't want to waste anyone's time and have the laparoscopy and nothing is wrong but I won't know for sure without it. I'm going in Tuesday to have the laparoscopy so I'll know what's what.

For both it is completely dependent on the skill and speciality of the person reading the images. Same way that not all gynecologist are created equally when it comes to endo the same can be said of sonographets etc.

Unfortunately just because you go privately doesn't mean that they have the skills required to pick up endo on imaging
