Hey everyone , I finally had my diagnostic lap yesterday , they found endo and removed some but couldn’t remove all as it was stuck to my ovaries and my tubes . One of my tubes have been damaged due to the endo it’s not straight anymore and it’s very swollen . They also told me that my the cells on my cervix are growing abnormal so on the outside rather then in the inside . So they’ve said if my 3rd smear comes back inadequate they will have to do a procedure to look at it under the microscope . Has anyone experienced this I’m not to sure what it is or means or whatever ? Also I’m in so much pain today they’ve given me really strong pain killers but I’m really struggling every time I go to the toilet just walking the pain just gets worse and worse I’ve got 4 incisions in my tummy but the insides just feel awful . Any help or advice ? I’m so uncomfortable thankyou ladies !!

Ah the cervix; I had that when I said I had pain during sex and random spotting. It's called cervical ectropion or cervical erosion. It happens randomly where the sensitive cells further up the cervix appear at the base, which can cause stabbing pains, increased mucus, spotting, a heavy feeling, or none of those!
It's nothing to worry about and it doesn't increase risks of cancer or anything. They can remove it one of two ways, cutting a chunck out or chemically "burning", either are effective, and can be done under local anaesthetic, at a hospital or clinic as a 30 mins appointment. It doesn't affect sex, or childbirth, so the normal function of the cervix is fine. The pros of having the cells sorted now is that it won't get worse so less painful recovery and chance of it recurring is a lot lower.
Happy to explain more if it is that and you need to have the cells removed.
As for painkillers post op - it takes a good few days for the pain to go, just keep on top of what they've given you and rest. Try to stick to a normal day pattern; stay on the sofa and just potter around a bit, you'll have time to binge watch some tv series! Remember you've had lots done even though the incisions are tiny; your stomach has been cut, inflated, tubes put in, everything moved around, poked, prodded, deflated and stitched back up so there will be lots of bruising and it will take a while to heal. You're doing the right thing by being active but do listen to your body when it's in pain. If you've not been given discharge notes and "how to recover from your laparoscopy" type thing, you can google, there's lots of info / leaflets out there for what to expect and what to do next. It can take about 4 to 5 months to really settle and to feel back to "normal".
Make sure you have a post op appointment booked for in about 2 weeks, usually when your sick note runs out. If you haven't book one in with either your specialist or your GP as this is a chance to see how recovery is going and extend your sick note if needed. You should have one then booked for about 4 months once your recovered to see what your "normal" is and what you'd like to do next plus what they have planned.
Wishing you a speedy recovery xx
