Hi there..

I had a diagnostic laparoscopy in March and the hospital have been absolutely hopeless.. I have my "results" back which consist of a 5 line letter.. it says that I have Endometriosis which I knew anyway. But that not only did I have the endo tissue removed I also have endometrial cysts removed and I have no idea what that means. I don't know what level my endo is but have been told its level 4 because of the cysts which are located on the ovaries I'm guessing... could this effect my fertility?

Anyone else had endometrial cysts who knows what this all means please? Thank you xx

Hi. Hope you’re feeling ok, was your surgery recently? I have stage 4 and had chocolate cysts on my ovaries. By having cysts you are at least stage 3 ( means in the uk you should be treater at a bagel centre). Do you know how much they had to remove? Your fertility can be affected by cysts and endometriosis, we were told that due to the extent even ivf was a long shot as my ovaries were damaged by the cysts but we tried anyway and got lucky first time ( I’m 33 weeks) so it can happen. Have you heard of the endo diet? I found it very helpful but as with all these things it won’t work for everyone. Have you got a follow up for you to ask questions? Cx

Hi, yes I have the same. I had 3 cysts which are called endometriomas or chocolate cysts. Generally when you have these blood filled cysts it means there is potential endometriosis and it's usually stage 4 (so 2 gynaecologists tell me.)

I had my 1st laproscopy at 39 yrs old on Monday this week. I didn't know I had stage 4 endo with cysts until March this year. I found out I had the condition through fertility tests as they found chocolate cysts on the ultrasound. They referred me to an excellent surgeon who has 30 years of experience with very good credentials.

During my 1st consultation before the op, I asked him 'can you fix me?' he said yes. 'Is there a possibility I can conceive?' he said yes. He said my egg count could go down, but it may not. It all depends. So there is a glimmer of hope for me. If I don't get pregnant naturally, there is always the IVF route. But he did have previous patients who had stage 4 treated and got pregnant. It doesn't happen for everyone but I'm keeping positive.
