New Endometriosis diagnosis advice

Hey everyone. Just discovered this group. I had surgery just under 8 weeks ago after I found out I had a blocked Fallopian tube, they found severe endometriosis and adhesions. I’m still waiting for my follow up with the consultant and feel very in the dark about it all as I literally just came round from my surgery was told I’d had to have both tubes taken as they were both deformed and that they found severe endometriosis and had scraped it. That was it. Yesterday was the start of my third period since my operation and I’m in a lot of pain. Feel like I’ve been kicked in the abdomen constantly and get severe pain on and off. I’m worried the endometriosis has already come back otherwise why would I have so much pain? I suppose I’m just looking to find out others experiences following surgery to remove endometriosis. Sorry for the long post.

Hi Emmyh80s,

So sorry you've been through so much and the prognosis wasnt good either. Have they out you on any contraceptive pill to calm your cycle? Your ovaries will be incredibly tender from the operation and a monthly cycle will cause inflammation no doubt. It's also possible some of endometrosis may remain, it can be microscopic, and will flare at ovulation and your period and cause pain as well.

Basic treatment and prevention of endometrosis returning is the contraceptive pill. If you're on it and it's not working, there are others to try and your GP should be able to give basic advice on this.

Also worth bearing in mind everyone heals and recovers very differently from these operations where they handle our organs. My first laparoscopy was a 3month recovery before my stomach finally started calming and was swelling less often. If you notice it around your periods nd ovulation it's more likely to be hormonal fuelled, if its random or continuous it could be your body still having inflammation from the surgery and not looking day to day activity yet.

Xxx

I’m on no meds currently. I’m actually wanting to have a baby. I was having private fertility treatment last year that’s when they found the blocked Fallopian tube. I really appreciate ur reply, knowing someone else took 3 months makes me feel ok. Lots of other things I found people were saying 2-6 weeks and they felt fine again.
