Going back maybe 12 years I would say that I have always had this uncomfortable feeling in my side - sometimes the left; sometimes the right - I never really saw the dr about it as it was always after my period every month and thought it was 'normal' for me. I also suffer with IBS but recently it has worsened and my periods have changed slightly (I am 40 with 2 children) so I decided to get it checked out by the GP. She sent me to have an ultrasound which came back with a 30mm cyst on my right ovary, she said that it was quite common, not to worry about it and we would rescan in 3-4 months. She assured me it was nothing to worry about (I am a terrible worrier when it comes to my health!) but as I was still suffering with pain/uncomfortableness she would refer me to a gynaecologist to ask for some advice. The cyst is a hemorrhagic cyst and she did say that Endometriosis could be a possibility. I know a little bit about it but I also knew that some women are told they have IBS when they actually have Endometriosis which she said could explain why my IBS has recently worsened.
I guess what I have come on here for is to ask whether from your experience with Endometriosis would you say (and I know you are not Dr's so I won't hold you to it lol) from how I have described my symptoms would you say that this is a possibility for me? The last couple of months I have felt quite tired, my periods are not quite right (they last for a couple of days then stop for a day before starting again - plus the 'end' of my period lasts a lot longer than it used to) and as I mentioned before my IBS is a lot worse than it used to be. I have slight pain in my back now and again and in the pelvic area. I guess I just wanted to 'speak' to someone who is going through it themselves.
Apologies for the long post!

i cant really answer your question on having Endo but on regards to your cyst ,when you go back in 3months ,this is your time to ask for an investigation, keep a pain diary see how things settlefrom now until then x
Your symptoms don’t sound typical of endometriosis but it doesn’t mean you don’t have it. Many things cause cysts! Some people are just more prone to them. As I said, you may still have it but it doesn’t sound like the typical presentation. The only way to diagnose endo 100% is through laparoscopic surgery.
Hi Heartof3 - no I wasn't diagnosed with Endo in the end, still have terrible IBS and still have the pain from side to side now and again. The cyst dispersed on it's own and the consultant did say you can get them now and again and they dissappear on their own. Sorry that isn't very helpful I hope you get some answers x
