Zoladex side effects

Hey everyone, just wondered if you could share your experiences of Zoladex for endo? It's only been 4 days since I had my first Zoladex injection and I feel like its thrown my whole body out of whack. I had to stay home from work on Monday as I was so dizzy, nauseous and spaced out. I have been having hot flushes and terrible night sweats. I am now off work again due to awful leg cramps and pain through my pelvis. I feel like I'm about to come on my period. Im also sooo tired! I've been so unreliable at work the last year or so due to days off because of endo pain/A&E visits/surgery and now this. Have any of you ladies experienced side effects like this so soon after the injection? Hoping it eases off soon :(

I had my first injection a week ago today. I felt find for the first day, and then about 16 hours later, in the middle of the Avengers midnight showing it hit like truck. Sweating, feeling very dizzy and nauseous, I had a horrible migraine and then I started bleeding. I went straight from the pill onto it so I basically had a very light period which looks like it’s ending. About 5 days in my endo flared up beyond all holy hell, I couldn’t move, it was absolute agony.

I feel fine today. The first two weeks I got told were the worse, but I found by day 7 most of the flare was over and it’s settled. I feel better today than I have in a long time.

I’m also on add back HRT (Tilbone) which has helped massively with the hot flushes and menopause like symptoms. I’m told this is normally standard as its there to ease symptoms but also protect your bones, so if you arn’t on it I would get straight to you GP and talk to them about it.

Hi Lizzie,

Sorry to hear your having a rough time of it.

I was told that the injections would work miracles for me and they said everyone felt great on them.

I’m afraid it didn’t work for me and caused me more symptoms. It helped with stomach pain but I had really bad insomnia 🙈 and when your that tired I just couldn’t cope. The hrt was suppose to help with the symptoms but they didn’t work. I give it a few months and they changed my injections to every month. I was exhausted and mood was low so for me I had to come off them. I guess u can only go with how you feel and what suits u as everyone will feel different. I had heard the injections can affect your bones if your on them along time too.

Hope this helps, if there is anything you want to ask feel free 😘

Hi

I'm on these injections (3 monthly). Although I have to admit my endo pain has seriously subsided, the side effects are terrible and, I'd go as far as to say, outweigh the pain! I've gained weight, have a very low mood and really want to come off the injections; as a result I have been referred back to my consultant. The first week I suffered terrible headaches, aching bones and nausea. Then as the headaches lessened, perhaps through drinking lots of water, all my bones began to ache - jaw, neck, and mostly legs and the hot flashes began. In addition to all of that my mood has changed. I am so irritable and pessimistic. It's not like me at all. And I realise this post is all doom and gloom but I'm just telling you how it is for me. Of course your experience could be very different. I just wish I had known more about what to expect before agreeing to the injections. I hope this doesn't scare you and I know it doesn't make the decision any easier. That said, I've survived almost 3 months now and I can see there will come a point when I'll look back at this time as (hopefully) a stepping stone to better times.

Good luck with your decision. 🤞🏼 I hope it all works out well for you. Xx

Thank you so much for your reply and your honesty! I'm sorry you have had to go through this - I am experiencing the exact same side effects. The aching bones (even my teeth!), the headaches, hot flushes, low mood and irritability. I cried for hours yesterday for no reason. I am just praying this will all be worth it! I have been told this will up my chances of being able to have children one day! Best of luck to you 😘 xx
