Endometriosis scan?

Hi 😊

I suspect I may have endometriosis of the bowel. I've never been particularly bothered by problem periods in the past and for the last 5 years I've barely had periods due to pregnancies and breastfeeding. I've always had ibs though. My periods restarted around 8 months ago and they are becoming unbearable to the point I dread getting them back. My kidneys feel like they are going to explode I can't sit down properly without crying out from the pain shockwaves that seem to radiate through my pelvis and squeezing to poo or even pump is excruciating 😖 I've just been for a scan and vaginal ultrasound but they found nothing! Is it possible I could still have it Xx

If it’s endometriosis it won’t show up on a ultrasound. Keep going back to Gp for referral to gynaecologist x

Even on a vaginal scan! Sometimes they can feel it with their hands, apparently it feels quite hard but really you need a laparoscopy to diagnose Endometriosis properly x

I had both V scan & Ultrasound and it didn’t show up.

Following a laparoscopy diagnosis I did have a specialised Deep Endo Ultrasound which is only performed by a specialist in this field, she was able to Guage how deep my endo was which was for the benefit of my excision specialist pre surgery.

And I agree....don’t waste time at a GP head straight for a gynaecologist :-)

Good luck with everything xxx

Australia for me :-) yep we have to get a referral from our GP too. My GP really struggled to diagnose me with endo, she at one stage told me to go away and stop thinking about the pain that I was probably causing it through my thoughts....ummmm???? After that ridiculous piece of advice I asked her to write a referral to my gynaecologist, one week and a laparoscopy after seeing my gynaecologist I was diagnosed, it was such a relief !!!

Also in regards to your bowel my gynaecologist sent me for a colonoscopy which came back clear, that way we knew all of my discomfort was purely endo and nothing else. Sometime the endo grows on nerves surrounding your bowel mine was on my utersacral ligament, it sent all kinds of weird sensations to my bowel, but I didn’t have endo in or on my bowel.
