In May of 2017 I suddenly began having pain in my lower left pelvic area. It was a constant dull cramping that bothered me for the entire month. My periods suddenly started becoming heavier and I was experiencing worse cramping then usual. I’ve always had painful cramps and heavy periods but nothing debilitating or too bothersome. In September 2017 I finally went to see a gynecologist. Every ultrasound and test came back normal and ultrasound didn’t show anything. My gynecologist said I may have a slight endometriosis but nothing can be confirmed officially unless I get a labrascopy done. She gave me birth control but after taking it for 3 months it made me feel awful and so I stopped it. I hate taking any kind of medication. I also would like to become pregnant within the next couple years so that really wasn’t an option.
The pain I have is pinpointed in my lower left pelvic area and it’s almost everyday. Over the last couple months I’ve noticed it starting to ache when I have a full bladder or if I press around on the area. Pressing on the area really aggravates it to the point where I need a heat pack on it. My problem is that I don’t know anyone who has 1. The mild symptoms that I do. I keep hearing about women with endometriosis being in so much debilitating pain and that it takes their breath away it’s so bad. Right now (Thankfully) my pain is never more than a period cramp kind of aching. And 2. I don’t see anyone else who has had symptoms come on so abruptly and suddenly. I only hear that this is something women deal with since they get their first period.
I would really like to find others who have endometriosis similar to my situation. I’m really scared to get a labrascopy done but I don’t know what to do with myself. I just sort of live with this right now but my question is SHOULD I be doing something? Should I only get a labrascopy if my symptoms get worse? Or is this one of those diseases where it’s better to treat it early. I would really love some advice. I’m confused and very worried about my health in the future.
