Be honest and firm. And do let them be dismissive. Go armed with facts I’ve seen printable booklets on line as well that I’m sure you can find on google which you can give to your employer as a starting point. Education is key. Also address how they spoke to you initially. I think the worst thing to do would be to not confront him on his behaviour.
There is a fact sheet online for employers. Type in working with endometriosis and it should come up. You are entitled to a safe happy working environment and employers have a duty of care.
Show him anything/everything and don’t leave a stone unturned.
In my experience I just laid everything on the table for my manager, MRI’s CT’s, results, consultants letters etc and it actually proved very helpful. I even kept them informed on my research and new coping methods I may be trying. It helped a lot and they even started to read up on it themselves to better understand. If they have or would like a daughter one day, they need to know about theses things. I know you shouldn’t have to go to extreme measures to prove your illness to employers but when you’ve had to attend a vast amount of medical appointment or are unable to go into work due to pain it provides some physical form of evidence that they can actually see.
I’d also take any research and information leaflets.
