I’ve recently been diagnosed with endometriosis following a missed miscarriage. It was a relief they finally diagnosed me as I’ve been struggling for years with the pain and excuse the graphic detail but blood in my stools every month during my period. I have had an appointment with an endo specialist who has referred me to a bowel surgeon because I have a 5 cm endometriosis lump in my pouch of Douglas which is protruding into my bowel. I am having a camera to check my bowels on Thursday this week and then they will make a decision as to how to operate. The emotional rollercoaster is something I just don’t think I was prepared for. Coupled with the fact I am 29 and would like to have a family it is something that really does scare me. Has anyone had the surgery on the womb and bowel? Would you recommend it? What’s people’s recovery been like?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Really sounds like an emotional roller coaster! I think the emotional side of things can be the hardest, its a lot to take in and hard when you're worried about implications with having a family, I'm in the same boat. Your consultant seems like he's being thorough and it's good that you've got specialists.
Not had it yet so not loads of help, but wanted to offer support! I've got a lap booked in end of the month and have endo on my bowels, bladder, pouch of douglas and 2 cysts on my ovaries. I was pretty scared when they first talked about operating on my bowels, but I have a specialist and I felt like the advantages really outweighed the very slim risks so going for it. Cos the pain had impacted on my life so much and also the endo being there maybe affecting fertility I figured I'd go for it. Once you get a bit of a better idea of where it is the consultants can give you more info. Make sure you ask lots of questions.
Thank you so much for your reply! I’m sorry to hear you’re in the same boat. Hope the lap goes well I’d be really interested to hear how you find it. I know what you mean and it feels so much better to try and do something to at least try and help the pain and also fertility. I find it can be a very lonely journey but this forum is great for hearing everyone’s personal experiences.
