Need some advice please - Pain related.

It’s not endo related but I feel a forum full of females is the best place to turn to. My partner doesn’t really know what to advise and I definitely don’t want to google as it will probably say go to A&E or call 999 suspected appendicitis! (When it’s not likely, the pain is not THAT bad)

I’ve lost my left ovary, by lost, I mean it’s no longer functioning due to a twisted Fallopian tube which was left untreated and then cut off the blood supply. I’m waiting to have it removed but I have to have cardiology investigations before my consultant carries out any further surgery. I’m seeing her again in December. If I get pregnant, I have to call up my consultants secretary and they will arrange for me to be seen at the early pregnancy unit for close monitoring as I’m at risk of an ectopic pregnancy.

So that means I am left with 1 healthy ovary. On Thursday (day 8 of cycle) I started getting very minor period pains. I had the same Friday and also noticed a twinge pain on my right side, exactly where my ovary is. I got the same pain on Saturday morning and evening. I was panicking as it’s not like I have any more ovaries left if anything happens to this one. I kept telling myself “stop being silly, you’re fine” but I have had it on and off all day today with the minor period pains too. This evening it got slightly worse and I can feel it in my back too at times. It feels like someone has shoved their knuckles right in and with the occasional prod with a knife. It’s not IBS and I definitely have an empty bowel.

I don’t know what to do. My partner says “follow your gut instincts” but I don’t know what my instincts are. One minute I’m thinking I should go to A&E because the pain is that bad. But then a minute or so later it’s not that bad so then I think maybe I should leave it as if it was bad the pain would get worse and worse and be more consistent. Then when the pain gets bad again I think that maybe I should get checked out because clearly something is going on. Then I can’t decide whether to call 111, GP, consultants secretary or just go to A&E. But then I tell myself I’m overreacting and I am probably ovulating. But then I don’t usually feel like this when I do ovulate nor do I want to assume. I then start to think “what if I am pregnant and I am having an ectopic pregnancy... people can still have periods when pregnant” and then I feel silly for thinking it. I don’t know what to do. I’m clearly paranoid!

Has anyone experienced this?

Has anyone got any advice?

Am I being silly and/or paranoid?

Sorry for the long post. I can’t sleep and just thought it would be worth a shot writing a post.

I’ll probably wake up in the morning with no pain etc... 🤦🏻‍♀️ which will be a good thing.

Thank you in advance.

I would always follow your gut instincts on this and pop down to a&e or out of hours and have an ultrasound done.

The thing I always go with is that you know your body best, and if something doesn't feel ’right’ its best to be on the safe side.

I did this recently cause of severe pain and it turned out I had a cyst on my ovary, that was bleeding out.

I think we all get a lot of pelvic pain, but if it's different or severe you really shouldn't hesitate go get it checked out.

Let us know how you get on

Hope your ok

Nothing worse than lying there in pain late at night
