Hello, I’m recently turned 16 and I think it’s best if I explain my situation on here:
I got my period about 10/11? It was okay for the first one or two but then out of no where I was getting incredibly painful and heavy periods; going through max absorption tampons in less than an hour and getting pain so bad I couldn’t move at Times: this started in my early teens and then at 14? I was put on the pill: loestrin. It did absolutely nothing and I still bled through it. The pain couldn’t be made better with pain killers but exercise eased them off for awhile but came back with a vengeance afterwards. I turned 15 and started a new pill; Rigevedon (I am not sure how it is spelt I apologise) before I went on the pill I was still incredibly heavy: getting horrendous constipation and Diarrhoea during my periods and in pain. I was also constantly fatigued and low in mood. I was going crazy thinking this is how every girl has her period? Am I being a wuss etc?! Anyway I went on this pill and it stopped a lot of the bleeding: I could use tampons happily now without worry and at first it was fine. But then recently after coming off to have a break the pain was worse than before, I was nauseous and getting horrible painful bowel movements. Then a very acute pelvic pain meant I struggled to walk at times and was tender to touch. It was worse when I came off the pill but I was still spotting “old blood” throughout being on it. I was getting so frustrated. I was tired and sick of being in pain and left in the dark.
I had an ultrasound of my lower abdomen and nothing showed up (this was before bad pelvic pain began just horrible cramping) and I was so mortified. I thought I must be a wuss and nothing was wrong but surely periods aren’t meant to be this draining. I’m close to crying wondering why I’m like this?
I’m going back to doctors next month with a diary and hoping that maybe I can get a TV scan: that I can finally show something is wrong and I’m not faking anything. But if they refuse or nothing shows up I’m at a loss
Any advice or ideas?
Thanks

As the lady above said, ask to be referred to gynae and do not take no for an answer. They cannot refuse - they may try and steer you away but if you insist they have to do it. This is not normal and you should not be made to put up with it. Can you take someone with you if you need support? I never go on my own to see my consultant and I’m 36!
Poor you xxxx this is not normal and like the other ladies say you have to be very strong with your gp to get anywhere. Debilitating period pain and bowel issues are not normal. The nausea also isn’t normal - I’ve just been off work for four months because my nausea was so bad but disappears with surgery. You’re not being a wuss! When I have endo no painkillers work but when I’ve had surgery I don’t even need paracetamol, I’m just uncomfortable like RoseM6 says. Be strong - go with your gut instinct that something is not right - it took me 8 yrs to finally get a diagnosis and I’m nearly thirty now and only just had what is hopefully my final surgery. Also I’ve had loads of MRI scans and ultrasounds and they show nothing, but endo is always there when they operate!! Do your research and try and get referred to a gynaecologist who specialises in endo xxxx really good luck and I hope you get sorted soon. If your gp refuses to refer you remember you are entitled to a second opinion xxx
Gynaes probably won’t do a lap as you’re quite young and they can cause more problems in the future due to scar tissue etc.
They will just try different contraceptive pills and painkillers. I was 17 when I first went and it’s been a long battle to get a lap. Only because my new gynae understood and knows my career is really important as I’m an athlete.
Endo can be missed on ultrasound scans and mri. Just have to keep fighting your case.
Over the last year, I saw 7 gynaecologists as they were all crap apart from two. I paid for a private consultation (he was the best gynae ever) and my now gynae who will be doing my lap is really nice as well. Xx
