Hi, I recently had a laparoscopy and finally been diagnosed with mild endometriosis on my ovary. I sadly also had to have both my Fallopian tubes removed, which was a huge shock to be told that when I woke up from the surgery. I’ve had my first period since the operation and it’s just as excruciatingly painful as it was before but I’ve also still got problems with my bowel. For the last 12mths I’ve had pain going to the toilet and it’s nearly always sloppy (sorry). I was sure I had endometriosis on my bowel and this was the problem. Is it possible it could be inside the bowel so can’t be seen? I’m due to go back to see the consultant in a few weeks but I’m worried he’ll think because it’s only mild it’s not that bad! I’m still off work and the pain is very real, some days it’s dull and I can get on with things and other days it gets so bad I’m in a heap on the floor!!

Bowel problems
Having a lap and having some stuff removed (even just the lap on its own) can take a while to recover from ; you've had so much done inside so even though it looks fine from the outside the inside can take up to 3 months if not more to completely heal.
It took me about 4 months to be 100% even then all my symptoms haven't gone; but docs say they may not all go as sometimes there's that much endo growth over the years that the nerves can be a little damaged.
That aside; our body can't tell the difference between endo pain and removal of endo pain, we associate it, so we think it's not changed, it has! Just give it time. My first two periods after my lap were awful.
Thank you for replying. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in this. Most people do not understand what all this is like to live with. Its been such an emotional and draining time.
It's exhausting; I'm due for my second lap to remove endo on my bowel (they couldn't do it in the first op as they wanted a colorectal surgeon - I had a diagnostic and removal of endo in one go, so they didn't know what they would find).
Hopefully that'll get rid of my additional symptoms, but I am aware that some pain will still be there.
I really hope it goes well for you. It’s just awful we go through all this, it’s a comfort we’re all in the same boat. Have they said what your recovery time will be?
When I see my consultant in a few weeks time I’ll find out what’s the next step for me. Just glad I’ve been diagnosed now been back and forth to the doctors for 5years complaining things aren’t right.
