Hi Kate,

I was put on that prior to my laparoscopy to stop bleeding. I was also on 3 months then a week break.

However I still did bleed/ on and off - so I then went on to loestrin 30. And I didn’t bleed while taking it.

I did feel quite nauseous - but that could have also been from the cysts in each ovary.

See how you get on with it.

Here if you want to talk

Hey Kate,

I've been on Loestrin 20 for 5 years now 3 months on 1 week off. I have the odd bleed if I missed a pill (even by a few hours out of my normal schedule) but other than that i've had few issues with it. I do get migraines without fail on my week off it, but i've suffered with migraines since I was seven years old and my hormone balance is obviously a trigger.

As for my endo, the pill has been a massive help. I am now looking at getting reffered back because i've had more pain flare ups and problems recently but for five years i've been managing quite well just on the pill.

I hope you have a good experience with it, and I hope your recovery is improving since your lap!

Ash

Hey!

I was recently prescribed this as I have had bad experiences with other contraception - this has a lower hormone level in it so it was supposed to be manageable.

Unfortunately within a week of taking it I had swung straight back into how other contraception had effected me. Cystic spots, depression and feeling of loneliness and some very dark thoughts. I had to come off it straight away. Some may say I didn't give it enough time but I knew myself that it wasn't right for me my mum even told me to throw it away and never take it again because of the way it made me (super dramatic I know).

I really wanted it to work, I wanted to be able to take the wheel of my own health with it and sadly it just didn't work.

Saying this - everyone is completely different, try it and if it works yey! if not don't feel like you have to keep taking it

Hi Kate,

how are you and how are you doing since taking Loestrin 20? I'm on it as well and I've nearly finished my very first pack (1 pill left..). I have not bled so far, which is AMAZING, but I did have a sort of very light spotting period which lasted like 2-3 days. The thing is that I had no bleeding whatsoever, I still had ALL the PMS symptoms: severe ovarian pains, severe stabbing inside vagina/womb, very sore boobs and dizziness/faintness. So that is NOT great at all. This was 10 days ago. I am now experiencing a second PMS period.. since yesterday.

I'll be curious to hear your experience so far.. x
