Endo and appendicitis

Hi everyone!

Several years ago I was digognosed with having a niggly appendix (sorry if iv spelt that wrong).

Basically an appendix that plays up from time to time but isn't bad enough to do anything about. Mild discomfort, maybe some pain but no external symptoms.

I have had no internal scans or surgery but my gyno did diagnose me with endo just from the shear number of symptoms and nothing appearing in other tests.

Resently with these severe flare ups iv been having I have my endo pain in the usual spots, mainly lower right side. But with this iv also noticed a recurring pain higher up mainly next to my belly button on the same side. With my flare ups I find myself becoming quite nauseous (gross stuff ahead). I'm rarely able to actually vomit mainly just gagging and a lot of saliva. Though they put alot of strain on my abdomine from how much force they cause and I usualy lose my voice for a bit... I'm constanty exhausted, I as awake for a total of 4 hours yesterday of the full 24.

In my research iv found that endo can effect the appendix and can even cause appendicitis.

I did let my docter know but without a fever there isn't much they can do. So iv sort of been on appendix watch for awhile, keeping an eye on my temperature and rebound pain. But so far nothing, just feeling crappy.

Sorry for the novel here, I'm just sort of struggling at Uni right now with pain.

But I just wanted to know if anyone has had similar experiences?

Or have had appendix problems caused by endo?

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

I'm in a very similar situation than you! I was investigated under general gynea for pelvic pain/endo, my pain started on my right lower tummy and kind of went and spread to other areas - had a lap done in december which came back clear but my symptoms never went away. My lap wasn't done by an endo specialist and they diagnosed me with chronic constipation.... fast forward a month afterwards and i was in crippling pain around my right ovary/appendix and legs (during my ovalution time...), i went to the GP and they suggested grumbling appendicitis ; however a week later the pain got much worse, turned out my period had started, I ended up being sent by yet another GP to the emergency surgical unit of my local hospital as she suspected acute appendicitis. I arrived there and i was just fobbed up for period pain/gynea problems and they just sent me home... after all of this i kind of had enough and decided to pay for a private initial consultation with an endo specialist, it turned out that he suspects I have endo on my appendix!

He put me on a short hormonal treatment to make my Mirena coil kick off (it wasnt doing its job properly, according to him my hormones were all over the place) - it kind of worked but I am still in lots of pain so I have just been signed off for a second lap with him or one of his 2 colleagues who are also endo specialists and BGSE accredited, I'm currently waiting for my surgery date!

Forgot to say, the private specialist i saw is also NHS consultant so he referred me back to his NHS clinic as I was self funding my private care!

Hi there, thanks for replying xxx!

Yes I have been in similar situations, some docters are completly hopeless...

With my pain currently (as of right now) my mother has tried to convince me to go to the ER, but with the health system where I am I would be there for the next 5 hours only to be sent home with a box of panadol.. Which I don't have the emotional strength to deal with.

I finally get the see my gynae on the 17th. She put me on the pill as she didn't want to immediately result to surgery, but when I see her I'm going to insist upon it. It's just not fair.

But yes the appendix like pain I can completly relate to, also being digognoed as being badly constipated, or having radiating period pain! Hate how that always the docters fall back...

Guess all I can do is keep an eye on everything till then.

Sorry iv rambled again, it's just so nice to get it all out there.

Thanks again! Xxx
