Mirena finally removed!
Have you tried Utovlan/norethisterone? That can stop periods x
I still have my Mirena in after it 'technically' passed its removal date a couple of months ago. I've read and been told by my doctor that the Mirena's actual expiry date is almost two years longer than originally thought. Instead of 5 years, it's effective for about 7.
Saying that however, the actual hormone release does reduce gradually through those two years, and women are more likely to have sporadic periods after 5 years. It's very effective as a contraceptive even without the hormone that stops your period.
If you are getting mild cramping after its removal as well as the blood, that is probably normal - removing the Mirena can cause a sort of mini period. Always check with the doctor that removed it though! Bleeding should always be checked after a removal.
