I just started my journey again, towards getting a diagnosis....and I am totally stuck on what to do.
I have experienced painful periods for 10 years. Before I started taking the pill, I spent 2 days vomiting and crying on the bathroom floor. It got better with pills. Still painful but I could go to school (with painkillers). I am now 23 years old and it is just getting worse. Spring 2016 I experienced the worst pain I ever felt in my whole life. It exploded in my lower back and all I could do was scream on the bathroom floor. Had to call an ambulance (who did not arrive). My GP in UK did not take it seriously so when I visited my parents in Sweden, I contacted the endometriosis clinic. They belived me and tried to help me. Obviously time was short and I haven't been in Sweden since then.
Over 2017, my periods still have been painful, but I also starting feeling pain around ovulation. Sex can be painful. Just sneezing or sitting down too hard can be painful. Noticed bloody discharge sometimes. I contacted my GP due to these symptoms but I am not joking when I say that I started crying aftet the visit. I now had intense lower back pain for 2 days mixed with bloody discharge. Period is 1 week away and the pain is making me stressed...I even had to go home earlier from work as I could not bend properly
I really don't know what to do. Ask for another doctor?

Aww this sounds horrendous! I know exactly wat ur going through (pain wise) my experience with gp was no where near this bad I was quite lucky with my gp who referred me pretty quick to gyne but I did already have my diagnosis for endo it had settled for few yrs due to pregnancy but the day my son was born dec 2015 it flared up really bad although I didn’t know it was the endo I just thought there was something wrong from child birth as it felt like I was still in full blown labour 3 weeks after he was born and it’s still happening till this day, I saw gyne in feb 2016 I was sent for a d & c and hysteroscopy in the April gyne appts continued thru the yr had lap dec 2016 and was referred to an endo specialist in Edinburgh now I’m just waiting on my date for 5th lap. Keep pushing keep visiting gp and just keep annoying them tell them u wld like to be referred to gyne, they have to do something for you xx
I am glad to hear that you are getting help for it! No one should have to live like this xx
I am just surprised at how little my GP managed to pick up. When I mentioned that the clinic in Sweden believed that it could be endometriosis and wanted to perform a hysteroscopy, gp pretty much waved it away and said it could be ovulation pain instead. Ouch. I even asked to be referred to gyne in the end but they said no. It is so frustrating! I just want a person to listen and take in the symptoms - they are not normal and no human being should have to deal with them cause the healthcare can't be asked.
Even if it was ovulation pain u still shld not be it that amount of pain from, another symptom of endo is painful ovulation, why be a gp if ur not prepared to help people in need of help, its ridiculous what some girls have to go through to get a diagnosis, is it the same gp who keeps sending you away? have you tried changing gp? I have 2 daughters 9 and 3 and i am terrified for them, i read they have a 78% chance of having endo cos i have it i just hope since i know wat the symptoms are they wont have to suffer long if they were to have it xx
So far I have been to 2 different places here in the UK. The first gp was even worse. I went there after that painful explosion last year. Got sent away with painkillers and the shitty (excuse my language) words ''probably just normal period pain''. I was raging for weeks! The gp I see now is ok with basic problems. Just called the place again and asked for another doctor and I got an appointment next week. That will be a long week....but at least it will be a 2nd opinion and I can push for a referal
