Well had long awaited Gayne appointment today, just to be fobbed off and felt completely unlistened to, ended up sobbing my heart out in frustration!!
Had a mirena coil fitted over 10 months ago to try to help symptoms such as chronic pain and heavy bleeding, big mistake-now bleed constanatly, constanly sick and in agonising pain. I have lost 5 stone in this time.
Been back to two to the g.ps and all I got was just come bk in two weeks, Ive begged for some one to remove the coil but as threads have gone walkies no one will even try.
Ive already had 2 ultrasound scans that show this is in the right place but all they have come up with today is that I have to have yet another scan to check the placement of the coil before they will even consider any thing else, gave me a leaflet on heavy bleeding and said they would see me in 3/4 months!!
Feel so low it is unreal!! Sorry for long post, just needed a rant x

I had a similar experience with the coil and eventually had mine removed under general anaesthetic. That was very straightforward and the constant bleeding and emotional changes I had from the coil stopped very quickly. Xxx
Thanks for your reply, Things have got a lot worse since the coil went in, just carnt get any one to take it back out again!! Did you have to wait a long time before you had it taken out under general anithestic? Or was it relativley easy to get this done? Thank you x
I think I waited about a month. There was initially a date for a few months away but I asked if it could be brought forward because I was really struggling with side effects xxx
I was hospitalised with mine each time I got my period. After four admissions and a lot of morphine I managed to get an emergency gynae specialist appointment. She was so kind and told me I had waited long enough and immediately removed the coil. Within two days, I was back to my normal self. Spotting stopped and no pain. If you have a good a and e, it's worth a try.
