Starting to go through the whole process of testing for Endo... My massive worry is, does it affect fertility? I'm looking at starting to try for a baby next May and would like to know if this can affect me in any way...
Thank you in advance xx

I came off the pill in December to start trying for a baby and a few months later I was diagnosed with endo. I had the same concerns as you did as you read a lot on the internet about endo and infertility. I had a lap in April and had mine excised, I also had a dye test done to check my tubes and they were fine. My gyne told us to start trying as soon as I felt comfortable and didn't mention anything about it effecting our chances.
I would try not to worry, as many ladies on here will tell you with endo they have gone on to have a family.
The only advice I would give, is to get referred to a BSGE centre as they are more specialised that general gynaecologists. Good luck, I hope you get some answers soon xx
Short answer: it might. It depends on where you endometriosis is located, if your ovaries are affected, chances are that your fertility is impacted. Even if your ovaries are not affected, for some reason endometriosis seems to make women infertile. Having said that, there are lots of women with endometriosis who have been able to conceive. I have extensive endometriosis, but have had two children since my excision 11 years ago. I did do acupuncture to try and conceive which could have helped. So there is no yes or no answer to your question, but there is a likelihood of it affecting your fertility.
Thank you ladies. I go to see my doc in the morning who will be referring me for further testing I guess so I'll besure to be asking loads of questions to the gynae when I'm there... I'll keep you posted x
Hi sorry I'm late to the party but I'd say yes, strangely it does effect fertility. That said, after years of trying, severe endo and 3 endometriomas on my ovaries I conceived and am 19 weeks pregnant now. I also has previous miscarriages as they said my uterus was hostile with having endo(?!).
I don't think I was prepared for just how confusing endo and fertility is. It can effect fertility severely and I would maybe just be mindful that it may be something that keeps cropping up as an issue. That said, there are plenty of success stories on here. I'm one of them so it definitely happens
Congratulations! I hope all goes well for you this time. It's so daunting all of this, especially at the beginning. I'm just keeping positive because I have so much going on at the min and this is a mega stick in the mud. But hey onwards and upwards xx
