Coming off Prostap

Hi All,

I have been on a course of Prostap for the last few months and have been pain free . My last injections were 3 weeks ago and am now experiencing some pain again and having mood swings.

Was just wondering what the side effects are when you are coming off this and how long before my periods start up again ?

Thanks :)

Hi

I've been on Prostap for a long time but had to come off it once whilst I had some other surgery. I found that as I was coming off it I got a resurgence in all my symptoms as if I had a massive rush of hormones at once- the worst bit was truly horrendous mood swings. I think the only thing that made it bearable was my gynae told me to expect that so I knew I wasn't actually going mad! Just being prepared for the symptoms is the best advice I can give, and let people close to you know.

I recently saw my gynae again to talk about stopping the Prostap to try for a baby. She said it can take up to 6 months for your periods to return, although she said that anecdotally she's noticed it seems to be the heavier your periods were before Prostap, the sooner they'll be back.

Hang in there! Xxx
