Hi ,

I use solpadene - over the counter dissolvable tablets - it has same amount of codene in as you are saying. I find its the only stuff to take edge off my pain - it doesn't bother me - I feel ok on it - no weirdness ! Certainly not " off my rocks" lol :)

You just need to try different stuff out and see how you are on it - everyone is different.

Good luck X

Lol thank you, maybe I shouldn't read the paper that comes with the tabs :)

I have co-codamol at the level of 50/300mgs (so 50mgs of codeine with 500mgs of paracetamol). I would suggest taking any new prescribed painkillers once you are home just to see how you are affected; in the longer-term, however, once your body adapts to this drug, you may find them to be less impactive of your pain.

In essence then I suggest taking them in the evening/night first and then look at your response and adapt accordingly....hope that helps...!

Good idea, not used them before so bit anxious xxx

Yeah, when I first take new drugs I always take them when I'm home so I can see how they affect me...!

Yeah - taking them a weekend when you haven't got yo go anywhere, or in the evening would be better. I make sure I've eaten before I take mine else I can feel very nauseous.

Good luck :) x

Hi,

Cocodinol is the only thing that works well for me. It does make me feel groggy in the morning, really thirsty but it's better than being in pain.

If you feel it is too strong there is a 8mg that you can buy.

Just be aware that codeine is highly addictive, causes constipation in majority of people taking it and should be taken after food so you do not feel sick.

Good luck.

I have 8/500mg & 30/500mg. I only take the 30/500 at night or if I'm not going anywhere as they do make me quite drowsy. It is the only thing that helps me sleep when the pain is bad. I also take one dulcolax every other day if I'm taking co codamol so I don't get constipated. Xx
