Hi all, does anyone know much about adenmyosis? Ive been diagnosed with endometriosis but I haven't seen any improvements since my laparoscopy. It was mild found on my pouch of Douglas. Im wondering if it's possible I could have this aswell? Im 23 and really worried im not going to be able to have children :( xx

Hi Georgia,

I'm 24 and have adenomyosis and fibroid tumours. It's similar to endometriosis but instead of being outside the uterus it's in the muscle wall of your uterus.

I have my first lap at the end of April to see if I have endometriosis as well but I've been told that my symptoms (extreme pain, fatigue etc.) Can be caused by adenomyosis as well but will wait and see what happens.

I'm a bit worried about having children too. I've been told by my gp the only cure is a hysterectomy but because of my age they'll won't consider that but means I'm in constant pain day and night. So much so my boyfriend (long-term and I own a house with) has suggested trying for kids sooner than we probably should just so I can get it taken out!

Sometimes I find putting a hot water bottle between my legs can be soothing sometimes.

Sorry that's not much help but you're not alone :) here if you ever need a chat

Adenmyosis is the wall of the uterus.. it was described to me a bumpy wall lining. I was told after my lapo if u still feel pain it will be due to the andenmyosis which cant be cured unless a hystorectomy is done. Which i dont want as i want more children. My consultant doesnt think id have trouble concieving.x

Thank you! They said where my endometriosis is it shouldn't cause me problems at the moment with conceiving but I'm really not ready for kids. My gynaecologist never mentioned adenomyosis to me after the lap only said he found endometriosis so im kind of self diagnosing but it seems strange my pain hasn't got any better! Im on an injection at the moment that puts me in a menopausal state to try and reduce my symptoms. Im due for my second one tomorrow so hopefully I might get some relief. I don't know how to get diagnosed with adenomysis tho and Im not due to see my gynaecologist again until August :( xx

Hi darling ive just been diagnosed 9 days post lap, with endometreosis and adenomyosis, I had my ENdo excised behind my uterus and ligament, and although still early days I don't think I'm getting much relief, seams the same pain as before, but obviously im still recovering from ENdo trestment too, ive got a follow up appointment with surgeon, he has said a full hysterectomy is the way forward and for me I'm lucky enough to be older with children, so really isn't a problem for me,

Has your surgeon mentioned adenomyosis, mine mentioned it on my first appointment after an internal, so I think he had a good idea even before going in on the lap,

It's hard to diagnose unless very advances server and has mad a difference to the appearance of the uterus, it's very similar symptons ENdo and adeno,

Did you have your endo excised, or lasered, and when was it done??

Good luck xx
